Our History
New Hope Baptist Church was established July, 1934 with the following members charter members who originally met under a brush arbor for worship: J.C. & Ella Boyd, Molly Darling & Jesse Brown, Arvey Brown, I.C. & Joe Stephens. New Hope was formed as a Mission Church from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Bro. Luke Dixie was the first Pastor. In January 1935, Bro J.C. Boyd and Jesse Brown were
ordained at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church as the first Deacons if New Hope. In the 1940’s the church was moved from its original location off Bowen Brown Road to Hwy 2025. During the 1940’s a Church Building was built. In the 1970’s Sunday School rooms were added along with restrooms. In 1993 a fellowship was added on to the building. In the early 2000’s a new Worship Center with plenty of Sunday School rooms was constructed. The adults met downstairs while children and youth met upstairs. After Hurricane Harvey left the old building’s roof slightly damaged, it did not take long for the mold begin to grow leaving the building unusable. In 2018 the old church building was torn with a new fellowship was built and still serves the church today.
